Professional Profile:

Your professional profile should ideally have a maximum of 5 points, written down in less than 500 characters. The idea behind this rule of thumb is simple – it should be visible enough to attract the attention of the reader, and short enough to ensure that he/she doesn’t lose the interest.

You ought to begin your profile by stating the job profile you have, along with your work experience. In the next sentence, you can write one or more of the specialties that you possess, which you believe make you indispensable. If you’re unable to think of something as significant, simply write down one or more of your most critical job duties.

Your next statement must comprise of your skills pertaining to the industry that you serve and the job that you seek. It is at this place, that you can mention any industry-specific certifications or licenses that you have. I was entrusted with the training of over 12 marketing specialists thereby improving sales by 10%.

 Work Experience:

You ought to list down your work experience in a reverse chronological order. Under this section, you must mention the name and location of every organization that you have served. You should also mention the position you held, along with the duration that you have served. It is also advisable that you enlist your key result areas, for every organization.

Since you have quite a few years of experience under your belt, it wouldn’t be possible, nor is it advisable to write everything that you have ever done in your corporate career. As mentioned earlier, simply focus on points that help indicate your scope of responsibilities, or lay down your achievements. Wherever possible, don’t shy away from quantifying your achievements. Adding numbers, as and when required, will help the recruiter understand the scope of your responsibilities, thus ensuring that your resume has a better chance of getting shortlisted. For instance –

  • Enhanced digital marketing efforts by deploying a new social media team and helped grow nationwide brand awareness by 42%.

Education:

Since you are applying for an executive level job, your educational history wouldn’t matter as much. That being said, don’t shy away from including your highest qualification, along with the name of the institute, its location and the duration of course.

If you hold any certifications, that are relevant to your industry, it is best to mention the same under this section. This will show your willingness to learn, which will definitely work in your favor.

As is the case with work experience, the details of your education should also be mentioned in the reverse chronological order.
